4 Tips to Your Fundraising Success by Cyndie King
4 Tips To Your Fundraising Success
Day in day out, people everywhere are looking to raise funds. Sometimes these funds are for businesses and sometimes these funds are for individuals. It doesn’t matter who is in need of these funds, but it is important to understand the processes that one needs to go through to raise these funds. The results will be much better if a systematic approach is put in place, to raise these funds.
Tip #1 " A specific goal needs to be stated.
For those that are fundraising, it is obvious that the general goal is to raise money. However, this is not specific enough. What are you going to do with the money once you get it? What will the money be spent on? Let’s take a look at an example. Suppose you had three teachers who decided that they needed more supplies in their room? They put their heads together and decided to do a fundraiser? Even though they knew they needed to raise some money, their ultimate goal was to get more paper, pencils, paints, glue, crayons, clay and books for their rooms. Now they know exactly what they are going to get with this money.
Tip #2 " A specific monetary goal needs to be stated.
Our teachers who decided to raise money for more supplies must know how much they are trying to raise. In order to get to this figure, they must make a list of what supplies they are going to purchase, the quantity of each type of supply and then determine the cost of each of these supplies. Once they have done this, they should be able to arrive at the specific monetary goal for this fundraiser.
Tip #3 " A specific time frame to reach this specific monetary goal
Obviously, the teachers do not want to run this fundraiser into the ground. They want to have a specific time frame or date that they want to reach this monetary goal by. By having a specific goal of what to do with the money, a specific amount of money to raise, and a specific time frame to reach this goal by, people will be ready, willing and able to help the teachers reach this goal.
Tip #4 " A specific series of activities that will be used to reach the specific monetary goal
If you are a long jumper, and your goal is to jump 22 feet and be able to do this within one month, it is important to do some activities that will help you reach this goal. This is especially true if you are only jumping 12 feet now. You must spend time running, measuring, stretching, and learning the right techniques to get to the goal of 22 feet. So it is with our teachers. They must plan activities that will help them raise this money.
Each of these steps will lead to a successful fundraising campaign, along with people that will be willing to help because they know what they are working for.
